If you can make any sense of my post your opinion would be most appreciated, Thank you for your help. Definitely split the pills and start at 25mg for a week then 50mg for a week then up to 100mg. I take topamax and five other meds for epilepsy, I have a VNS, so I have trouble sleeping as well, so my neurologist gives me klonopin at night, 2 mg, because it helps me sleep, it keeps seizures away, and it also help the nerve pain if I do have a seizure. I had the gastric bypass 14 years ago and put on Topomax 8 years ago for migraines. I already suffered with the onset of an eating disorder and there is some debate as to whether my eating disorder triggered my epilepsy. Keep in mind, not all binge eaters are over weight or obese however. My slim daughter was prescribed Topamax for migraines and said she lost 10lbs over the course of several months. My meds we doubled and topamax was added with my deprakote. Got meds. I am off them but boy what an awful feeling, diarrhea, weakness, etc. Im on 1000 mg of gabapentin twice a day, tramadol, percocet, imitrex injections, phenergran, migrainal, maxalt, magnesium, valium 10 mg three ties a day, xanax, botox, and this is all for cluster headaches. I become so frustrated and embarrassed about my weight. It makes you a bit nervous, so if you have an anxiety problem. The biggest thing is not being able to remember words. Getting back on Topamax did not help my weight loss. it said Topamax for seizures and migraines. He is adamant that I use the Topamax as a mood stabilizer just 25 2x a day. And says that I should start losing the weight I gained while being constipated on the lortabs for so long. I am about to start back taking Topamax and although the weight loss alternative is not my reason for taking the medication, it certainly is a plus.
